C. K. Wang, Medical Director of Oncology at Quest Diagnostics, shared on LinkedIn:
“Yesterday, the oncology field took a giant leap with FDA’s accelerated approval of the immunotherapy agent dostarlimab (Jemperli) for stage II/III dMMR rectal cancer patients.
This study not only showed that single agent immunotherapy is highly active in dMMR disease but that qualified patients were able to avoid traditional chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and most importantly, surgery!
As a part of this approval, the FDA reviewed an earlier clinical trial (NCT04165772) that incorporated an earlier version of Haystack MRD by Quest Diagnostics into its study design that showed similar ground-breaking findings.
I believe that this is a first in a series of approvals for early-stage dMMR cancers and am proud that Quest Diagnostics, Quest Diagnostics Oncology, and Haystack MRD by Quest Diagnostics have supported this advancement from the beginning.”
