Incidence and Survival Outcomes of Breast Cancer Subtypes in the United States

Sakditad “Tew” Saowapa, Oncologist at UI Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared a post on X:

Annual Meeting, now in JCO!

Incidence and survival outcomes of breast cancer subtypes in the United States.

  • Studied US breast cancer (BC) subtypes (2000–2021).
  • Incidence: Ductal (79.1%), lobular (10.9%), mucinous (2.8%), medullary (0.7%).
  •  Survival: Metastatic BC (APC 3.5%), lobular (HR 1.58) had worse outcomes.
  • Need targeted interventions for tougher subtypes.”
