Bogda Koczwara, Director of Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship, shared on LinkedIn:
“A very important study, just published in Journal of Clinical Oncology Oncology Practice.
A global, propensity-matched cohort study (over 30,000 patients) examining rates of CVD MACE hospitalisations in people treated with immunotherapy vs historical chemotherapy controls.
- Higher risks with immunotherapy (RR 1.4) – consistent across hearth failure, stroke and myocardial infarction. Risk varied with type of immunotherapy.
- Proactive management of this risk is key component of good cancer treatment.
If you want tips on how to do it – read.”
