“We are closer than ever to realizing a long-held vision of personalized cancer vaccines.
Interim findings from a late-stage trial showed that a personalized vaccine from Moderna and Merk combined with the immunotherapy Keytruda can help prevent the spread or return of cancer among patients with high-risk melanoma compared to those who only received Keytruda.
These highly promising results follow decades of pioneering research led by our colleague Catherine Wu, chief of the Division of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapies at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, whose research has demonstrated that personalized vaccines work to stimulate immune cells to recognize and fight cancer.
We are incredibly proud of Dr. Wu and our many colleagues whose innovative work is advancing this field and offering hope for a promising new way to treat some of the most devastating cancers.”
