Asem Mansour: Advancing Point-of-Care CAR-T Cell Manufacturing in Jordan

Asem Mansour, Chief Executive Officer at King Hussein Cancer Center, shared on LinkedIn:

“Proud to share our latest publication in JCO Global Oncology.

CAR-T therapy has transformed outcomes for patients with relapsed/refractory lymphoma, but industry-driven manufacturing is complex, costly, and slow, keeping it out of reach for much of the world.

We asked a simple question:

Can we make it here, ourselves, for our own patients?

The answer is yes.

Using an automated, closed system, our team manufactured 11 reproducible CAR-T products in-house, treated our first 8 patients under a phase II trial, and brought the average vein-to-vein time down to just over 15 days, with encouraging responses and no new safety signals.

This is what decentralized, point-of-care cell therapy can look like in a developing country. Deeply grateful to every member of this team who made it possible.”
