Anne Hansen Ree Reports Four Accepted METIMMOX Abstracts for ESMO 2026

Anne Hansen Ree, Professor of Oncology at the University of Oslo, shared on LinkedIn:

“METIMMOX  is designed for patients newly diagnosed with unresectable abdominal metastases (liver, peritoneum, lymph nodes) from MSS/pMMR colorectal cancer – the majority of patients with metastatic CRC.

A great deal has happened since my last METIMMOX update (Feb 2026), and I am grateful for the strong interest and many inquiries. Here is an update:

We will present no less than 4 METIMMOX posters at ESMO26

  1. Clinical, molecular, and radiologic biomarkers (795P, 25-Oct; by myself)
  2. Self-perceived global health status as a prognostic factor (3478P, 24-Oct; by the excellent Aleksandra Pirnat)
  3. Prognostic versus predictive biomarkers (4355P, 23-Oct; by the excellent Benjamin Geisler)
  4. The first data from the METIMMOX-2 study (793P, 25-Oct; by the excellent Sebastian Meltzer)

We submitted four abstracts to the congress and all four were accepted for presentation – that’s METIMMOX!

Many have also asked when METIMMOX-3 will open. I am elated to share that Akershus universitetssykehus has signed an agreement with BeOne Medicines to provide the PD-1 inhibitor tislelizumab for METIMMOX-3.

In parallel, the practical and regulatory groundwork for this investigator-initiated trial has been put in place – quite som undertaking, particularly compared with when I conducted my first of many IITs more than 20 years ago. We expect to begin enrollment toward the end of 2026. From January 2027, the trial will also be open to patients referred from other hospitals.

METIMMOX – Precision Immuno-Oncology when it matters most!

Thank you to the Norwegian Cancer Society Kreftforeningen and Helse Sør-Øst for their funding, and to BeOne Medicines for providing tislelizumab. Your support enables our work for the many patients facing this disease.”
