“Published with British Journal of Haematology: ‘Consensus recommendations on diagnosis and management of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome in paediatric haematopoietic stem cell transplantation’.
Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a rare but potentially life-threatening neurological complication following paediatric allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Its heterogeneous presentation and the absence of standardized guidance contribute to variability in diagnosis and management.
In this modified Delphi consensus, we report the results of a multidisciplinary panel of paediatric transplant physicians, neurologists and neuroradiologists addressing key aspects of the diagnosis, management and follow-up of PRES in the context of HSCT.
Panel discussions confirmed that PRES in paediatric HSCT is a multifactorial condition, most frequently occurring in the early post-transplant period and often in association with immunosuppressive therapies and endothelial stress.”
