Scientists have developed a blood test that can detect early-stage pancreatic cancer – NCI
National Cancer Institute (NCI) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Nadia Jaber, Science Writer at NCI:
“Scientists have developed a blood test that can accurately detect early-stage pancreatic cancer, according to results from a large study. The test is a Liquid Biopsy, a type of test that uses blood or other bodily fluids to detect or monitor cancer.
The most effective and practical use of this blood test would be in high-risk individuals, researchers said.
Media Description: Exosomes from each organ are stamped with a unique mark, like a ZIP code, allowing researchers to zero in on exosomes made by the pancreas. Then by looking at microRNA inside those exosomes, researchers can tell if there’s cancer in the pancreas.
