Shivan Sivakumar, Professor of Translational Oncology at the University of Birmingham, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I have today been notified that from the 1st August I will be promoted to the title of Professor of Translational Oncology at the University of Birmingham.
It is an accolade that I am thrilled to receive and represents a village of all the support I have received from senior mentors and colleagues and collaborators and the hard work of my trainees. I also wanted to say especially how much this means to my dedicated family.
My wife is my best friend and has been on this journey for a while now. My kids won’t understand what this means but everything I do is for them. I am also incredibly grateful for everything my parents have done for me.
We had an incredibly humble childhood and they made it great. My father is no longer with us but I know he would be super proud and my mother continues to support me everyday. This is only the beginning and we are beginning to make meaningful change to the outcomes for patients with pancreatic and liver cancers.”
