“What a memorable day for our patients, families, and the entire City of Hope community.
The inaugural Strike Out Childhood Cancer game brought together the City of Chino community in support of children with cancer and the loved ones who stand beside them.
It was especially meaningful to share the day with several of our patients and families, whose strength and courage inspire everything we do. A highlight was seeing Los Angeles Dodgers legend Orel Hershiser throw out the first pitch with two of our own patients.
I’m deeply grateful to Andrea Fletcher her vision and extraordinary leadership, and to Colleen Torres and her team from the City of Hope Office of Philanthropy for helping make this special event possible.
Thank you as well to the Chino Police Department and Fire District, leaders, volunteers, donors, and families who filled the park with such generosity and hope.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s Cancer Center at City of Hope and help advance the care and research our patients deserve.
