Michael Serzan: Medical research saves lives and inspires hope
Michael Serzan, Genitourinary Medical Oncologist at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, shared a post on X:
“If you’re like me, recent events might have given way to despair.
And yet, Tonight, I have boundless hope.
In times like these, we ‘Look to the helpers’
In times when there is an assault on funding for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) by 57% from $1.5 billion to $650 million.
We stand beside patients to advocate that medical research saves lives and inspires hope.
In times when medical misinformation abounds,
We stand with Grassroots organizations such as the Prostate Health Education Network to champion health equity for all men with prostate cancer
‘Hope is the belief that no matter how dire things look or how long rescue or healing takes, modern science in tandem with people’s goodness and caring will boggle our minds, in the best way’ (Lamott).
Tomorrow is a brighter day, let’s get to work.”
