Ginny Mason: Thanks to research, I’ve been given 30 years I wasn’t supposed to have
Ginny Mason, Executive Director of the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn by Chelsey Gomez, Founder of Ohyouresotough, adding:
“I’ve been given 30 years I wasn’t supposed to have, thanks to research. In 1994, inflammatory breast cancer was a death sentence. Prognosis was 12-18 mo. if I could tolerate the chemo.
Thanks to research, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) breast cancer tumor board recommended neoadjuvant chemotherapy,… certainly not the standard of care at that time.
I’m alive today and able to help others access appropriate quality care, thanks to research. You or someone you love may soon hear the words ‘it’s cancer,’ and you’ll want the best outcome possible.”
Quoting Chelsey Gomez’s post:
“It doesn’t matter to you until it IS you. Let’s change that. Research matters.”
