Carolyn Taylor: Honored to be Speaking at the Patient Engagement Open Forum
Carolyn Taylor, Founder and Executive Director of Global Focus on Cancer (GFC), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Honored to be speaking at the Patient Engagement Open Forum, where global leaders come together to discuss how to make health systems more inclusive, equitable, and centered on the people they serve.
But as I prepare to present on the importance of lived experience and advocacy, I carry a heavy heart. I will return home to a country where the National Guard has been called out – not for disaster relief, but on our own citizens. This contradiction is painful: to speak of dignity, engagement, and justice abroad while witnessing their erosion at home.
We cannot meaningfully engage people in health without also engaging them as full citizens – in all aspects of society.”
