One of the most special events of the year, the NSW Health Awards shine a spotlight on the personalized, sustainable, and digitally enabled health programs that deliver outcomes and support the wellness of our NSW community.

Congratulations to our staff, team and programs recognized:

  • Excellence in Aboriginal Healthcare Finalist – Putuwa: BreastScreen NSW Aboriginal Women Breast Screening Project
  • Health Innovation Award Finalist – Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Breast Cancer Screening

These nominations are a testament to the dedication, innovation and collaboration of everyone involved, as well as the strong partnerships with communities that help improve cancer outcomes across NSW.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these important projects. Your work is making a real difference to people, families and communities across the state.

We wish all finalists the very best ahead of the awards ceremony on 29 October.”

More about main innovative component of two recognized programs:

  • BreastScreen NSW Aboriginal Women Breast Screening Project – The project combines culturally tailored screening information, stronger partnerships with Aboriginal communities, staff cultural-awareness training, and a lower recommended starting age for screening – from 50 to 40 years.
  • Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Breast Cancer Screening – AI-assisted mammogram review, combined with the provision of a breast density result for every person screened, supports clinical assessment while helping individuals better understand and manage their breast cancer risk.
