It’s time for a paradigm shift in healthcare – Tommy Ibrahim
We’re used to a healthcare model that sees patients as passive recipients of medical interventions, rather than active participants in their own health. This reactive approach overlooks the interplay between physical, mental, and social factors that contributes to overall well-being.
I believe it’s important for a healthcare system to see health as greater than just the absence of disease. Healthcare should nurture all aspects of a person’s life.
A holistic healthcare model is a shift from a disease-centered approach to one embracing prevention and early intervention. Rather than waiting for symptoms to manifest and treating them as they arise, it encourages proactive measures promoting long-term health, including not just wellness checkups, but regular testing and monitoring of patients at risk for chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma.
It’s time for a paradigm shift in healthcare.
