Manmeet Ahluwalia: We celebrated the annual recognition of our physician champions of the Grateful Patient Program at Baptist Health
Manmeet Ahluwalia, Chief of Medical Oncology at Miami Cancer Institute, shared on LinkedIn:
“Last week we celebrated the annual recognition of our physician champions of the Grateful Patient Program at Baptist Health. It is my distinct privilege to serve as the Co-chair of the Physician Grateful Patient Program Advisory Council with Yvonne Johnson-Phillips and led by Tony Sowers (one could not ask for a better partners).
The Grateful Patient Program at Baptist Health, as it exists today, began in FY19, however, the Physician Grateful Patient Advisory Council began 10 years ago with a small group of dedicated physicians who believed in the impact of philanthropy and the healing power of generosity – there were no more than 10 physician council members the first year – we now have over 150 physician members.
Thanks to the engagement of physicians, the clinical excellence, and the compassionate care provided to patients at Baptist Health, over 75% of all funds raised annually by Baptist Health Foundation come from grateful patients.
Patients and their families who have been cared for by physicians want to express their gratitude and support the incredible work of our physicians by giving philanthropically – that is what fuels the philanthropic cycle:
· Exceptional care produces gratitude
· Gratitude produces philanthropy
· Philanthropy produces impact
· Impact elevates exceptional care
Huge gratitude to the Amazing team of Philanthropy Baptist Health most admirably led by Alexandra Villoch, Joe Natoli, Jacqueline O’Malley, Jamie Thomas, Brandi Syatauw Heddings, Marc Spiegelman.”
