Pam Traxel: The Best Way to Fight Cancer is to Detect it Early
Pam Traxel, Senior Vice President of Alliance Development and Philanthropy at the American Cancer Society, shared a post by Jonathan Kupperman, Legislative Director at U.S. House of Representatives, on LinkedIn, adding:
“I couldn’t agree more. Cancer touches all of us and the best way to fight it is to detect it early. Congress has a rare opportunity to make a real difference in this fight. MCED has a majority of sponsors in the House and the Senate. Republicans and Democrats representing millions of Americans. American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) stands ready to work with Congress to pass this critical bill into law this year.”
Quoting Jonathan Kupperman’s post:
“Seven of every 10 cancer deaths come from cancer types for which there haven’t been available screening tools — such as pancreatic, ovarian or stomach cancer. Putting these multi-cancer early detection tools in more hands can save lives and significantly reduce the $210 billion spent annually in the U.S. on cancer treatment.”
