Nathan Pennell: The Medical community needs to oppose the Department of Justice’s threats to journal independence

Nathan Pennell, Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Research at Cleveland Clinic, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I hope the world is paying attention to the shocking fact that the Department of Justice is sending Orwellian letters to major medical journals, threatening their editorial independence and taking the first step towards introducing political bias into scientific publications in direct violation of the First Amendment.

The medical and academic community (and hopefully the American public) needs to be united in opposition to this kind of interference.”
