Lauren Kriger Groner: Once again showing USPSTF Lung Cancer Screening criteria are inadequate

Lauren Kriger Groner, Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology and Attending Radiologist at Weill Cornell Medicine, shared a post on X by ALCSI adding:

Important paper from The American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative once again showing USPSTF Lung Cancer Screening criteria are inadequate and removing years since quit criterion plus using 20-years smoking duration better (not perfectly) identifies high-risk individuals. The type of data we need to move the needle!”

Quoting ALCSI’s post below:

ALCSI’s Alexandra Potter just gave an incredible plenary presentation at STS2025!! Her study investigating approaches to improve lung cancer screening eligibility criteria was awarded the Chamberlain Memorial Paper!!

The study is out now.”
