Association of European Cancer Leagues Shared a New Position Paper on PFAS free future
Association of European Cancer Leagues shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The scientific evidence linking PFAS exposure to cancer is growing – and it’s concerning. To kick off the European Week Against Cancer, we are launching a new position paper making the case to Ban PFAS across Europe.
Known as “forever chemicals”, PFAS are a large group of roughly 10.000 human-made chemicals that can be found in countless consumer goods, like non-stick frying pans and water-repellent raincoats.
PFAS pollution is widespread, with estimates showing nearly 23.000 sites all over Europe are contaminated. And this is alarming: studies have linked PFAS exposure to serious health risks, including kidney and testicular cancer.
“The scientific evidence linking PFAS to cancer warrants immediate and thorough regulatory action at the EU level. We must act now to prevent cancer and protect future generations,” explains Tom Buis (Dutch Cancer Society – KWF Kankerbestrijding)
Read our new position paper.”
