Mark Lewis: For the moment I will NOT be using somatostatin receptor scintigraphy to routinely surveil my own or my practice’s MEN1 NETs.
Mark Lewis recently shared a post by Thorvardur (Thor) R. Halfdanarson on X/Twitter.
“I’m as cognizant of my own iatrogenic radiation exposure as I am of my patients’ — between EUS and MRI I’ve largely minimized it to date.
For the moment I will NOT be using somatostatin receptor scintigraphy to routinely surveil my own or my practice’s MEN1 NETs.”
Quoting Thor Halfdanarson’s post:
“To PET or not as a part of pNET surveillance in MEN1-related NETs. According to this study, using SSTR PET/CT, the additional information gained was limited and radiation exposure increased. It would be interesting to look at PET-MRI in this setting.”
