Global Summit on War and Cancer: Enrique Soto’s speech on Cancer Care in Fragile Settings in Latin America

The 1st Global Summit on War and Cancer took place on 14 – 16 December, 2023. It was organized by the Institute of Cancer and Crisis and OncoDaily. Renowned healthcare specialists from all over the world came together to discuss cancer issues at the time of war.

We were honored to have Enrique Soto, Head of Geriatric Oncology Clinic at National Institute of Medical Science and Nutrition, Mexcio City, as a speaker during the summit where he discussed about Cancer Care in Fragile Settings in Latin America. 

Dr. Soto spoke about political instability and factors influencing drug-related violence, the effects they have on cancer care. He shared insights on how healthcare system can respond to these fragile states by reducing fragmentation, decreasing disparities and funding cancer care.

Enrique Soto Perez de Celis is a geriatric oncologist working at the National Institute of Medical Science and Nutrition in Mexico City, where he leads the Cancer Care in the Elderly Clinic, the first multidisciplinary Geriatric Oncology clinic in Mexico. He is a former recipient of a Young Investigator Award, a Long Term International Fellowship, and a Career Development Award from the Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
