New Research Aims to Close Gaps in Psycho-Oncology Training. Our latest study in Psycho-Oncology explores the need to standardize training for psycho-oncology professionals around the world. With World Cancer Day’s theme of ‘Closing the Gap,’ our survey of 43 countries found major disparities in training globally. Some have detailed legal requirements, others none.
This highlights the need to establish core curriculum standards to Close The Gap and ensure quality psychosocial cancer care. Standardized certification will help train psycho-oncologists with consistent knowledge and skills to support patients and families. Our research provides a starting point to develop consensus on essential training elements and move toward consistency in this emerging profession.
