Doctors just want to be doctors. Unfortunately, the actual life of a physician is nothing like we imagined in med school. Which is part of why half of us are burned out. Besides actually taking care of our patients…
We have hours of charts to complete. We have to worry about workplace politics that can make us feel like we’re in high school. We spend hours on the phone haggling with insurance companies. We are expected to see as many as 30+ patients in a day, and have little energy and presence left for our families.
We WANT to do everything and do everything perfectly. But some days we just want to be a doctor. You too?
