Dr. Abeid Athman Omar is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Head of the Oncology Department at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) in Nairobi, Kenya, with a special interest in breast cancer in young women, oncofertility, lung cancer, and global oncology. He completed his clinical oncology and nuclear medicine training at Alexandria University in Egypt and is a fellow and graduate of the European School of Oncology (ESO) in Milan, Italy. He was awarded Best Poster in the Breast Cancer Category at the ESMO 2024 Congress and has been recognized with multiple national and international awards including the ASCO IDEA Award and the OncoDaily Yvonne Award.

  • Head of Oncology Department at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), Nairobi, Kenya (November 2024 – Present), where he leads the oncology department and manages patients across all cancer sites due to the shortage of oncologists in Kenya, with a primary focus on breast cancer in young women, oncofertility, oncosexuality, lung cancer, and prostate cancer.
  • Clinical Oncology Specialist at KUTRRH (December 2022 – Present), providing clinical oncology care across multiple cancer types.
  • Fellow at IEO Istituto Europeo di Oncologia, Milan, Italy (March 2024 – December 2024), rotating at the Department for New Drugs Development for Innovative Therapies and Management of Breast Cancer Patients under Prof. Giuseppe Curigliano.
