“I am pleased to share that our systematic review and meta-analysis, “Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors After Progression on Atezolizumab-Bevacizumab in Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma,” has been published in the World Journal of Hepatology.
As the use of atezolizumab plus bevacizumab has become the standard first-line treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, the optimal management after disease progression remains an important clinical challenge. Our study synthesized the available real-world evidence from 9 studies including 994 patients to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in this setting.
Key findings:
- Overall survival after TKI therapy was approximately 11 months.
- Lenvatinib demonstrated the most encouraging survival outcomes among the available agents.
- Disease control rates remained favorable, supporting the role of TKIs as a reasonable second-line strategy.
- The safety profile was consistent with previous experience and generally manageable.
This work underscores the need for prospective studies, biomarker-driven treatment selection, and evidence-based sequencing strategies for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.
I am grateful to all my co-authors for the opportunity to collaborate on this project. It is rewarding to contribute to research that helps inform clinical decision-making and advances care for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.”
