“Time for debate: Is echocardiographic surveillance mandatory in metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer?
The key takeaway is that longer survival calls for smarter, risk-based follow-up. Surveillance should be tailored to each patient’s risk of cancer therapy–related cardiac dysfunction.
Monitoring is also important with trastuzumab deruxtecan, and as anti-HER2 therapies are increasingly used across other solid tumors, including gastrointestinal cancers.”
