ELLOK to Host 10th Annual Conference on People-Centred Cancer Care in Athens 2026

The Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELLOK) has announced its 10th Annual Conference, to be held on 2–4 February 2026 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, under the theme “People at the Centre – Bridging Pathways of Care.”

Marking a decade of sustained advocacy and policy engagement, the conference will bring together policymakers, the academic and scientific community, health industry leaders, and patient representatives to address both European and national cancer care priorities. The programme is designed as a high-level forum for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic alignment across the cancer care continuum.

ELLOK Highlights

Day 1 – Policy, Strategy, and Access

With Europe at a pivotal moment for health policy, Day 1 will feature high-level discussions on national and European cancer strategies. Highlights include:

  • A keynote address by Irene Agapidaki, Alternate Minister of Health, on “Building a Resilient Public Health System.”
  • Sessions drawing lessons from the EU4Health programme to inform a future National Cancer Plan.
  • A flagship panel on “Cancer in the Next EU 7-Year Budget”, examining the role of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), featuring Stella Kyriakides, Alberto Costa, Members of the European Parliament Elena Kountoura and Nikos Papandreou, alongside Richard Price, Policy Director of the European Cancer Organisation.
  • Sessions on equitable access to innovation, lung cancer care pathways, and cancer survivorship and healthy ageing.

Day 2 – Prevention, Screening, and Early Detection

The second day will focus on prevention and screening, bringing together national and European leadership to assess progress and remaining challenges. Key sessions include:

  • “Driving the National Cancer Strategy Forward”, delivered by Adonis Georgiadis, Hellenic Minister of Health.
  • Updates on the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC 5).
  • Progress and challenges in HPV elimination.
  • Public health strategies addressing smoking and vaping.
  • The intersection of cancer and mental health.
  • Advances in cancer screening, diagnosis, and the role of Comprehensive Cancer Care Centres.

Day 3 – Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Collaboration

Aligned with World Cancer Day on 4 February, Day 3 will spotlight innovation and future-oriented approaches to cancer care, with sessions on:

  • Digital transformation in health systems.
  • Innovation and integration in hospital-based cancer care.
  • Ethical and respectful communication about cancer.
  • The ECHoS NCMH session on synergies between health literacy, data, and artificial intelligence, shaping Europe’s cancer innovation ecosystem.
  • “Biobanks without Borders” and their role in advancing European precision oncology.

Registration and Participation

Participants may attend in person or online. The conference will be live-streamed, with simultaneous translation from Greek into English available exclusively for registered attendees.

With its strong focus on people-centred care, policy coherence, and innovation, ELLOK’s 10th Annual Conference is set to serve as a key platform for shaping the next chapter of cancer care in Greece and across Europe.
