European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer shared Catarina Simões Padilla’s, Postdoctoral Researcher at Erasmus MC, post on LinkedIn, adding:
“New EORTC Quality of Life Group publication.
Congratulations to Catarina Simões Padilla, Olga Husson, Winette van der Graaf and colleagues on this important contribution to quality of life research in solid rare cancers.
The findings of this new study, published in the European Journal of Cancer, support using the EORTC QLQ‑C30 as a core questionnaire, and combining it with tumour-specific questionnaires or tailored item lists to better capture what matters most to patients.”
Quoting Catarina Simões Padilla’s post:
“New Publication alert!
I am beyond thrilled to announce that the main outcome manuscript of the EORTC QoL Rare Cancer Study has been published in the European Journal of Cancer.
We analysed data from 397 patients with rare cancers across 20 types and 22 countries. This was an incredible, collaborative effort by the entire team over the last 4 years.
Our results showed that the EORTC QLQ-C30 can be applicable to rare cancers, but a flexible and tailored approach combining the generic questionnaire with tumour-specific questionnaires or tailored item lists may better capture what matters most to patients, while preserving comparability across studies.
Thank you to all collaborators, and all patients who dedicated their time to this important research!”
