JocOnDa is the official virtual Journal Club of OncoDaily, created as a global, open-access academic platform dedicated to structured, evidence-based discussion in oncology. Designed for medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, fellows, researchers, and medical students, JocOnDa provides a professional space where high-impact clinical trials and emerging data are critically analyzed and translated into clinical practice.
In an era where oncology advances rapidly across tumor types and molecular subgroups, staying updated requires more than passive reading. It demands critical appraisal, statistical understanding, and thoughtful discussion of applicability in real-world settings. JocOnDa was established to meet that need.
Unlike traditional journal clubs confined to single institutions, JocOnDa is fully virtual and open to participants worldwide. It connects clinicians across countries and healthcare systems, fostering an international exchange of perspectives on evolving standards of care.
The First Edition: GI Oncology
The inaugural edition of JocOnDa is dedicated to gastrointestinal (GI) oncology. This first GI-focused session marks the launch of a new OncoDaily GI educational series centered on high-impact trials, relevant published research papers, continuous advances in immunotherapy, biomarker-driven strategies, perioperative approaches, and targeted treatments.
The first GI-focused edition marks the beginning of a structured educational series under the JocOnDa framework.
Discussions will center on pivotal trials and clinically relevant studies in:
- Colorectal cancer
- Gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancers
- Pancreatic adenocarcinoma
- Hepatocellular carcinoma
- Biliary tract malignancies
Each session follows a consistent academic structure, including an overview of study design, patient population, endpoints, survival outcomes, safety considerations, biomarker interpretation, and clinical relevance. The goal is not only to summarize results but to critically assess methodology, interpret hazard ratios and survival curves, and discuss how data should influence practice. JocOnDa aims to strengthen scientific literacy while maintaining direct relevance to patient care.

For our inaugural session, we are honored to host Thiago Felismino, Chief of Upper Gastrointestinal Oncology at A.C. Camargo Cancer Center, who will lead the discussion and share his expert perspective in GI oncology. The session will be streamed via Restream and broadcast live on Twitter (X), allowing participants worldwide to join and engage in real time. Participation is open to all oncology professionals and trainees interested in advancing their understanding of GI cancer research.
