“OMPRN held a webinar on March 27, 2025, where Dr. Yvonne Bombard presented on Mitigating Disparities in Hereditary Cancer Genetics: Rethinking Our Approaches is now available to view on our Youtube channel.
Dr. Bombard explores how structural, systemic and cultural factors shape access to genetic testing and genomic health services, particularly for racialized and underserved populations. Drawing on her research, she discusses key barriers—including limited awareness, stigma, and inequities in referral pathways—and highlights strategies such as digital tools, community-based outreach and cultural sensitivity training to address these gaps.
