The Danish Government Moves to Ban the Use of Sunbeds for Children and Adolescents – ECO
European Cancer Organisation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Denmark sets the example!
The Danish government moves to ban the use of sunbeds for children and adolescents. 50,000 cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in Denmark every year, making it the number one cancer in the country.
Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan committed to explore measures to prevent exposure to ultraviolet radiation, including from sunbeds. Many measures are required.
The European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, supported by ECO, are calling upon the European Commission to:
1. Ban sunbeds for minors
2. Phase out sunbeds for aesthetic purposes
3. Regulate sunbeds as medical devices, not as consumer productsRead the full statement.”
Penilla Gunther, Member of the EU Cancer Mission Board at European Commission, shared this post, adding:
“Great to see some action!”
