Hiroki Hori Concludes Term as SIOP Asia President

SIOP

Hiroki Hori is a professor at the Graduate School of Medicine at Mie University in Tsu, Japan.

He is also a member of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, having previously chaired its international committee.

Since 2014, he has been involved with the Japan Children’s Cancer Group.

He has also contributed to international medical collaborations, particularly in resource-limited African countries through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Dr. Hori is committed to supporting the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer as an active member of SIOP.

He recently completed his term as the SIOP Asia President.

Gevorg Tamamyan has been elected as the new President of SIOP Asia (2024-27).

Gevorg Tamamyan is the Editor-in-chief of OncoDaily and the President of SIOP Asia Continental branch. He is also the President-Elect of the Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean (POEM) Group.

He is the CEO of the Immune Oncology Research Institute and the Co-Founder and Board Member of the Armenian Association of Hematology and Oncology, City of Smile Charitable Foundation, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Cancer and Crisis, and the Former President of the Harvard Club of Armenia.

He is the Chairman and Professor of the department of Haematology and Pediatric Oncology at Yerevan State Medical University.

Dr. Tamamyan is the Past-Chair of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) IDEA Steering Group and International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) PODC Supportive care WG. He was selected for the ASCO Leadership Development Program and currently is a member of the ASCO International Committee.

He is a recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, among them the ASCO IDEA and LIFe Awards, 40 under 40 in Cancer Award, he was recognized as a Young Leader of the International Agency for Cancer Research (IARC) and Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
