Perspectives and Innovation in Pediatric Psycho-Oncology – AIEOP
AIEOP (Italian Association of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology) shared a post on LinkedIn:
” ‘Perspectives and Innovation in Pediatric Psycho-Oncology: Research, Advanced Therapies, Technologies and New Frontiers’ – just published in Annals of Research in Oncology.
This perspective describes recent innovation, with these new insights being crucial for improving the overall quality of life and long-term outcomes for patients and their families and for driving future research in pediatric psycho-oncology. In particular, it emphasizes the implementation of neuropsychological screening tools to monitor and prevent cognitive decline in patients affected by central nervous system malignancies or those receiving neurotoxic treatments.
Although research is making great strides in the field of psycho-oncology, there are still too few shared clinical and scientific standards, especially on certain issues.
In our opinion, psychiatric management should be standardized.
We sincerely thank the children and parents we meet in daily clinical practice in pediatric oncology.”
