How to Improve Clinical Practice on a Specific Subset of Colon Cancer Patients?
Alberto Puccini, Medical Oncologist at Humanitas Research Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn by Valentina Daprà, Medical Oncologist at the Humanitas Research Hospital, adding:
“Huge team effort out on ESMO OPEN: insights to improve clinical practice on a specific subset of colon cancer patients with poor prognosis!
Special thanks for the wonderful job to Valentina Daprà and Annalice Gandini that led this international project, and Daniele Rossini for his invaluable statistics and thoughts!
It’s been a pleasure to coordinate and the guide the work with Lisa Salvatore!
Many thanks to all the collaborators!
Quoting Valentina Daprà‘s post:
“Finally out on ESMO OPEN our latest study!
We present a large, international, multicenter real-world dataset of almost 400 high-risk stage II pT4N0 colon cancer patients.
T4 disease was confirmed as a poor prognostic factor.
Adjuvant chemotherapy provided a substantial benefit, with a significant reduction in both risk of recurrence and risk of death.
The benefit was proportional to treatment duration, with 6 months of oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy showing significantly better outcomes in terms of OS and RFS, compared to 3 months or no adjuvant treatment.
Huge thanks to all collaborators and participating centers – this result was truly a team effort!
