Swati G. Patel: Optimizing Bowel Preparation Quality for Colonoscopy
Swati G. Patel, Associate Division Director of Faculty Development and Advancement at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Check out recently published bowel preparation guidelines from the USMSTF on CRC, representing American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
Some highlights
– Quality benchmark: all centers should be achieving >90% adequate preps
– Low volume preps and simethicone are effective and well tolerated
– In select patients:
- Low residue diet day prior may be ok
- Same day prep may be ok for afternoon procedures
Check with your Endoscopy lab.
Pro tips from the University of Colorado Cancer Center.”
Phuong Ly-Gallagher, Research Advocate Training and Support (RATS) Manager at Fight Colorectal Cancer, shared this post, adding:
“Swati G. Patel does a great job explaining the colonoscopy process, but here is my step-by-step guide for the prep. I hope it helps you get through your next prep with zero drama!”
