Channel 7 Telethon will Support 136 Beneficiaries focused on delivering life-changing programs, purchasing essential medical equipment, and funding critical research into childhood diseases.

The Channel 7 Telethon, commonly known as Telethon, is an annual fundraising event established in 1968 by philanthropist Sir James Cruthers and Brian Treasure. Produced by Channel 7 Perth, it aims to improve the health and well-being of children in Western Australia. In 2023, it became the highest donating telethon per capita globally, surpassing A$600 million in total funds raised.

The televised event runs for 26 continuous hours each October, broadcasting across Metro and Regional Western Australia on Channel 7 and 7plus. Donations come from private citizens, corporations, and special fundraising events held throughout the year.

Each year, selected children known as “Little Telethon Stars” represent those benefiting from the funds raised. The event features talent from various Seven Network shows and international music guests, including legends like Sir Cliff Richard and Celine Dion. Notably, Michael Jackson participated in the 1985 Telethon but could not perform due to contractual issues.

Little Telethon Stars for 2024 were Florence Shanks, Nate Fearnall, Nazeem Fahmi, Charlee Hosking.

Funds raised support medical research into childhood diseases, provide critical services, and offer life-changing opportunities for sick and disadvantaged children. The Channel 7 Telethon Trust is a registered charity governed by a Board of Trustees and operates year-round from Newspaper House in Osborne Park, Perth. It relies on the generosity of Seven West Media and other companies that contribute resources to minimize operational costs.

This year, the Channel 7 Telethon will support 136 beneficiaries, focusing on delivering life-changing programs, purchasing essential equipment, and funding medical research into childhood diseases.
