Cancer Institute NSW Welcomed Leaders in Cancer Research at NSW Fellows’ Forum 2025

Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post by Cancer Institute NSW, on LinkedIn, adding:

“Blown away by the research talent in NSW. Today, I spent time with some of the brightest rising stars – early and mid-career fellows funded by the Cancer Institute NSW. From discovery to clinical trials, supportive care to survivorship, their work spans the full research pipeline.
It’s this kind of innovation that helps reduce the burden of cancer for all Australians – not just helping people survive, but live well, with fewer side effects, fewer setbacks and less fear. Special thanks to Prof David Thomas, NSW Cancer Researcher of the Year 2024 for an inspiring keynote.”

Quoting Cancer Institute NSW‘s post:

“Today, the Cancer Institute NSW was proud to welcome about 40 of our state’s emerging leaders in cancer research at the 2025 Fellows’ Forum.
Our annual Fellows’ Forum is all about bringing early and mid-career cancer researchers together for an opportunity to network, share knowledge and learn from one another.
This year’s theme was ‘Building Partnerships’ – an essential driver of cancer research progress and breakthroughs.
Professor Tracey O’Brien opened the program with an address sharing her insights on the importance of research in improving outcomes for people with cancer.
It was a privilege for all to hear a keynote address from Professor David Thomas, a presentation from Anne O’Neill FTSE and a panel discussion featuring Melissa Monteiro, Michelle Moeskops, Kimberley Williamson and Murray McLachlan.
Attendees also had the opportunity to partake in a workshop with Dr Tamika Heiden on mastering grant writing.
We would like to thank all who came together to make the 2025 Fellows Forum a success.”
