Françoise Meunier, Founder of the European Initiative on Ending Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“A highly relevant new publication in the Journal of the National Cancer Center highlights why Member States must act decisively when transposing the Consumer Credit Directive into national law and when adopting the national legal framework with a 5-year timeline:
‘Five-year conditional relative survival up to 10 years post-diagnosis among adolescent and young adult breast cancer patients’
The data shows that for most adolescent and young adult breast cancer survivors; excess mortality becomes minimal within just a few years. This is exactly the kind of evidence that justifies a 5-year timeframe for the Right to Be Forgotten.
This is a pivotal moment for policymakers: transposing the Directive with ambition and evidence in mind is critical to protecting cancer survivors from ongoing financial discrimination.”
