Armando Orlandi Shared Highlights from 15th Breast Club Discussion on Sexuality and Integrated Breast Cancer Care
Armando Orlandi, Medical Director at the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital Foundation IRCCS, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A step forward in integrated cancer care
Today the 15th Breast Club took place at the Gemelli Polyclinic, an event that courageously addressed a topic too often left in the shadows: “Sexuality and breast cancer: an integrated care pathway”.
Thanks to the foresight of Prof Gianluca Franceschini we were able to attend a fundamental multidisciplinary discussion that explored the clinical, relational and psychological aspects in the management of cancer patients.
Why is this important?
Sexuality is an integral part of a person’s well-being
Can no longer be the “elephant in the room” that is not talked about
Only through knowledge can we offer real support
The multidisciplinary approach is the key to truly integrated care
A heartfelt thanks to the moderators Prof. Anna Fagotti, Prof. Paola Villa and Dr. Stefano Magno, and to the speeches of Prof. Daniela Chieffo, Dr. Alessandra Fabi, Prof. Paola Villa and Dr. Amar Inbal Dona.
Personal care goes beyond illness. It is time to break down taboos and build care paths that look at the human being in its entirety.
Lack of knowledge generates incorrect assistance, taboos and fears… Knowledge and research create caring.”
