Alper Uzun: In computational biology publishing a paper is only part of the journey
Alper Uzun, Director of Cancer Bioinformatics at Legorreta Cancer Center and Associate Professor at Brown University, shared an article by Jennifer Li on LinkedIn:
“In computational biology and bioinformatics, publishing a paper is only part of the journey. When we develop a tool, it’s essential to go beyond the publication—promoting it actively so that colleagues are aware of its practical value and applications. A tool is only as impactful as its utility and adoption in the field.
In my lab, our focus extends beyond genomic data analysis, especially in cancer research, where we’re committed to developing user-centered tools that drive advancements.
Recently, our team launched Variant Graph Craft (VGC), a variant visualization and analysis tool designed to simplify every step, from installation to usage, making it accessible and intuitive for researchers across different platforms.
VGC is available for download on all major operating systems, and you can find both the tool.

This project was a team effort, and I’m grateful for the support of my colleagues and LCC. We’re excited to see how VGC can contribute to variant analysis and cancer genomics!
Please help us to spread the word!”
