
Pawel Koczkodaj: Should Poland Follow Ireland’s Lead on Alcohol Cancer Warnings?
Pawel Koczkodaj, Head of the Primary Prevention and Health Policy Unit and Associate Professor at the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper he co-authored with Irmina Maria Michalek, published in the European Journal of Cancer:
“The World Health Organization has long advocated for alcohol containers to carry warnings similar to those found on tobacco products.
Ireland is set to become the first EU country to introduce cancer risk health warnings on alcohol labels, starting May 2026.
Should Poland follow Ireland’s lead? (spoiler alert – yes). Together with Prof. Irmina Michalek, we explore this topic in a piece recently published in the European Journal of Cancer.”
