The situation around GEP-MiNENs in Italy
Two studies from Italy present 20-year-old real-world data on patients with GEP-MiNENs treated with chemotherapy and the female leadership in the field.
1) This Italian real-world analysis confirms that GEP-MiNENs represent a complex disease and that the clinical management has been predominantly guided by the subjective judgment of clinicians over the past 20 years. Future prospective clinical and biomolecular trials are urgently needed to a personalized and successful clinical approach.

2) Female Italian authorship on NENs has been increasing over the last 5 years even if senior authorship continues to be primarily men. Effort should be still made to balance gender representation.
