“Yan Pei-Ming gives a face to the Institute with a monumental portrait of Professor Gustave Roussy.
Executed and donated by Yan Pei-Ming, a renowned Franco-Chinese painter, the portrait measuring 2.80 meters by 2.40 meters of Professor Gustave Roussy hangs in the Institute’s hall, welcoming patients, their families, visitors, and staff.
It symbolizes the mission and legacy of the Institute’s founder, a pioneer of modern oncology, whose work continues to influence cancer research.
Yan Pei-Ming created this portrait to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Professor Roussy’s founding of the Cancer Institute and the 150th anniversary of this visionary physician-researcher’s birth.
