Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander populations and higher rates of inflammatory breast cancer – NCI Center for Cancer Research

“NEW FINDINGS: A CCR study found that Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander populations had higher rates of inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) and poor survival in non-IBC when compared to other races/ethnic groups. More research is needed to understand the factors and improve outcomes.

These findings were largely spearheaded by Takeo Fujii, M.D., M.P.H., and team. Dr. Fujii is a medical oncologist and a physician-scientist who specializes in breast cancer and metastasis. His research focuses on finding novel therapeutic targets to breast cancer brain metastasis by understanding the role of inflammation and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment.”
