Monica Bertagnolli: My vision as NIH Director is to ensure all Americans benefit from medical care

Monica Bertagnolli shared on LinkedIn:

“As someone who grew up in Wyoming, I saw firsthand the challenges faced by rural communities to access medical care and participate in medical research.

Part of my vision as NIH Director is to ensure all Americans benefit from medical care informed by the latest scientific research.

That’s why NIH is launching the Communities Advancing Research Equity for Health, or CARE for Health, that will integrate clinical research with community based primary care to improve health outcomes, particularly for those underrepresented in research and underserved in health care.

Additionally, a public workshop will be hosted on Friday, June 7 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. ET to share findings from a series of listening sessions on the challenges and opportunities for integrating research into primary care.”
