Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus: The launch of the first WHO Investment Round
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Tonight is a historic moment for World Health Organization – The launch of the first WHO Investment Round.
The Investment Round aims to mobilize 7 billion dollars over 4 years.
Let me put that into context for you:
Last year, the world spent 717 billion dollars on cigarettes – a product that causes suffering, disease, death and huge costs to health systems.
For the 4 years, we are asking for 24 cents for every 100 dollars spent on cigarettes.”
