“My interview with MedPage Today highlighted my research on a rare but fatal GI cancer, gallbladder cancer, which showed a birth cohort effect among African Americans. At Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) similar research was presented. Differences observed in these cancer trends are likely influenced by a variety of environmental factors, including diet, physical activity, access to care, clinical decision-making, racial discrimination, and socioeconomic stress. It is crucial to extend our focus to other groups as well, such as Native American and Asian-American patients, who also deserve more attention in this research.”
