Erman Akkus: Is patient participation in cancer drug trials associated with longer survival compared with routine care?
Erman Akkus, Medical Oncology Fellow at Ankara University, shared a post on X:
“Is patient participation in cancer drug trials associated with longer survival compared with routine care? .
- No survival benefit
- When only high-quality studies were pooled (HR, 0.9)
- When the sample was adjusted for possible publication bias (HR, 0.94)
- Interpretation of authors: Excluding patients from trials due to geography, nonavailability of trials in their condition, or ineligibility does not deprive them of survival opportunities
