Ramy Sedhom: New ASCO Guideline on Palliative Care
Ramy Sedhom shared on X: .
“New ASCO Guideline on Palliative Care for Patients with Cancer:
- Early referral to SPECIALIZED PC leads to improved QOL, mood, higher likelihood of documenting EOL preferences
- PC teams are fundamentally interdisciplinary
- PC benefits caregivers emotionally/psychologically
- Referral should be “timely” – do not wait until cessation of therapy
- PC helps pts with hematologic malignancies and those on phase I trials
Very cool and satisfying to see 3 of our papers referenced in the guideline!
- Precision Palliative Care (Ravi B. Parikh)
- PC, Hospice Use, Phase I Trials (Arjun Gupta)
- PROs, Patient Experience Phase I Trials“
